I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted! Over three weeks by my calculation! I'm sorry for the lack of posts but I've been VERY busy doing lots of fun and exciting things!
The last two weeks have been busy because they were my last three weeks officially working in the park. I was finishing up my final report for the project I was working on, trying to find a new cemetery, working at an excavation and generally having a great time!
I had a visit from my Momii which was fantastic! We spent a lovely weekend in the Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown area. We wandered the streets.....ate more chocolate than we should have (which was SOO yummy!)....and ate in the basement of one of the taverns in Williamsburg while watching a lovely production.
My final draft of my report was turned in last Friday. It was interesting to learn yet another writing style that will be useful to me for the rest of my life. But it's done and I'm proud of the work I did! 40 out of 48 cemetery ownership status confirmed! Woo-hoo!!
Let's see what else have I been up to......oh yeah........
So through my research on the other cemeteries in the park, I discovered four other cemeteries that were originally unknown to park staff. One of them was still within park boundries so myself, along with my supervisor and three other SCA interns went on a hunt. I created a proposed search area using GIS and we used that as our guide. We only got about half the search area covered in a morning but it was still fun to see my office work translate to something on the ground!
Oh big news this last week, other than working at an excavation on Monocacy National Battlefield, I got to try Ethiopian food!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! SOOOOO finding recipes to make it! It was so yummy and so much fun to eat! I didn't use any utensils the entire meal!
Well, a picture post will probably follow in the next few days. Chilling at a family friend's house this weekend. Relaxing before my insane last two weeks start! It's gonna be a fun ride! Check back soon!
