A Mother's Love

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and it got me thinking about what it means to be a mom. I have been blessed with a mother who has put up with me and my insanity from Day 1. The singing 'Trust and obey", just those three words, over and over and over again. The number of times I've asked her to proof read a scholarship essay or a project that was due very soon. She has put up with me and I will be forever grateful.

So what does it mean to be a mom? I have been blessed with an amazing mother. I have also been blessed to be able witness many families who have adopted throughout my life; For some it has been a single adoption (my aunt and uncle), for others it has been many (Unto Him We Live). This love was best described in a  poem that a friend posted on their wall:
"Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn't grow under my heart,
But in it."
I realized that being a Mom is about the love that is poured out on their child, biological or adopted. I hope that if/when I become a mom I can show the same love and devotion to my kids, biological or adopted, that my mother has shown me.
