Exciting Day At The Park

So today started off a little crazy. Thought I had lost my wallet and after looking "everywhere", even the gas station I filled up at last night. I cried to Mom for a good ten minutes and then went back to the house and found my wallet. This "adventure" caused me to be a half an hour late to work. But it was all good, I learned how to accession new artifacts into the collection.

The most exciting part of the day happened after lunch. Let me set the scene for you! All of the roads in the park are being repaved and today the main road through the park was being repaved. So all the Resource Management interns were sitting eating lunch when we hear buzz over the radio that a visitor was injured on one of the trails. We ate lunch and headed back to work when one of the ProRangers ran over to our building and asked if we could give him a lift to the site, because they were going to have to preform a carry out on the visitor. Well in the end all the Resource Management interns piled into two vehicles and raced off to the scene.

We arrived and the scene after a four minute car ride down a gravel road and then a five minute brisk walk down the trail. I along with the other interns helped carry out the visitor who had fallen on the trail and managed to injure her knee to the point where she needed stitches. Got to see Law Enforcement (LE) at work and see some of the awesome tools they use. I was just excited to see the SCA interns, maintenance and LE all working together to make the visitors' experience the best even at the worst time.

After we got the visitor to the car that was going to take her to the ER, the guy in charge said that we did a great job and that it was one of the best carry outs he's seen.

Well it's only Tuesday and it's been a crazy week! Going to the National Archives tomorrow! I'll try and post pictures of my weekend soon! My picture uploader is being dumb! Grr.....I don't like technology sometimes! Stay tuned! More adventures to follow soon!
